About Chris Burch

In 2012 a North Carolina McDonalds franchisee in Shallotte chose five if my Mid-Atlantic Coastal and Inland images and displayed them  on 5' x 8' panels  in his new restaurant on Rt 17 south of Wilmington, NC.  This was the culmination of four years of photo work in the Carolinas and happily the patrons of this store will be able to enjoy these images for years to come.

I began taking pictures in 2006 with two film cameras.  One loaded with black and white film, the other color.  Expensive, especially when two out of twenty four pictures were keepers.  Encouraged by the late Melinda Jones, a gallery owner in Shallotte, NC where I had taken  pictures to be framed for our home, I entered several amateur competitions.

Fortunately I was encouraged by some early regional success. My images were recognized in local competitions and they began to appear in regional newspaper articles and in the calendars made for customers by the Brunswick Beacon newspaper.

I currently use a Canon T5 digital camera for all my work. I NEVER photo shop my images. What I see through the lens is what this sites presents.

With the help of of my web designer Mike Covington, we've try to bring you only the best images of the past eight years. The shoot locations have changed from the mid-Atlantic coast to the heartland of the mid-West.  The extensive collection of barn images now reflects my own photographic transition and the transition from some of my original, and best selling images of the tobacco barns in the mid-Atlantic  to the corn and wheat farms of the upper Midwest. Transitioning from the aquatic/reflective nature of the Atlantic Ocean and the Intra-Coastal Waterway to the more stark, earthy images of the north central region of the U.S. has been very interesting and challenging. By adding the light houses of the Great Lakes and the sunrises and sunsets on this nations largest inland bodies of water, I'm getting my reflective  fix!  The various light house structural designs on the inland lakes are an interesting contrast to the historic light houses that dot the Atlantic coast line from Maryland to Florida. My new project is to travel the shores of America's Great Lakes and bring home to this site for your enjoyment the hundreds of light houses that protect the crucial inland shipping lanes of our country and the lives of boating enthusiasts rom all over the world.

A 1966 graduate of Bowling Green State University in Ohio, my wife and I returned to Ohio in 2012. One of the collections in this site displays the architectural and design beauty of MY university campus and the town we now call home.
